The inaugural NAIST-UC Davis Mini-Symposium was held on the 2nd of Feb. 2011 as a closing event of the one-month long English course at UC Davis extension. 6 delegation members (Dean Prof. Tanihara, Prof. Daimon, Prof. Kikuchi, Assoc. Prof. Koh, Mr. Nishida, and Mr. McDowell) from Graduate School of Materials Science (GSMS), NAIST, participated in the symposium. The Dean, Prof. Masao Tanihara, made an opening remark and introduced the GSMS. In the symposium, 14 NAIST students presented in English their research in a very professional and scientific manner, showing their progress in English abilities obtained during the English course. Special lectures were also presented by Assoc. Prof. Ting Guo (Department of Chemistry and Materials Science, UC Davis) and Assoc. Prof. Koh (NAIST). During the UCD stay, 6 GSMS members visited the UCD faculties involved with the ITP to greet and thank them personally for their involvement and discuss the student laboratory stay program.
