Research detail

Amorphous oxide semiconductor thin-film transistors have gained interest over the years because of their advantages over amorphous Si and polycrystalline Si transistors. In particular, tin oxide is used as a semiconductor material because of its abundance, low toxicity, and high intrinsic mobility. This work focused on improving the combustion synthesis-assisted fabrication of SixSnyO TFTs. Generally, a standard solution combustion synthesis method uses fuel, an oxidizer, and an ignition temperature for combustion to proceed. However, several impurities from the precursor solution remain in the film such as chloride and carbon that are detrimental to the film quality. Thus, we developed a novel method that can simultaneously enhance the combustion process while reducing the nonparticipating ions in the combustion process.

Comment

I feel honored to receive this award and humbled by the recognition it represents. It is a testament to the unwavering commitment and perseverance required to bring this research to completion. I am grateful to my professors in the Information Device Science Laboratory: Assistant Professor Juan Paolo Bermundo and Professor Yukiharu Uraoka; as well as the rest of the staff and members. I would also like to acknowledge the financial support provided by the Foundation for the Nara Institute of Science and Technology Support Program.
