Quantitatively evaluating the adhesive strength

We are developing a spatiotemporal control technique of cellular functions through the understanding of physiological responses of cells to the mechanical stimuli induced by the femtosecond laser.

Elucidation of physiological response of cells to mechanical stimuli

When a femtosecond laser impulse is applied to cells as mechanical stimuli, various cellular responses are activated. In this study, such cellular responses are evaluated by fluorescence imaging and fluorescence spectrum measurement. We have so far demonstrated intracellular Ca2+ signaling and pH change led by the femtosecond laser impulse. Based on such cellular mechanoresponse, we aim to control cellular functions by varying the laser irradiation parameters.
