In the Functional Supramolecular Chemistry Laboratory, we are performing research related to interdisciplinary fields, including biofunctional chemistry, nanobiotechnology, protein science, coordination chemistry, organic synthesis, bioinorganic chemistry, photochemistry, vibrational spectroscopy, molecular engineering, etc. We are interested in constructing supramolecules for the new age, developing new photoactive biomolecules, and elucidating the unknown mechanism of protein denaturation related to Alzheimer’s disease, mad cow disease, Parkinson disease, etc. Furthermore, we also develop artificial metalloenzymes (biocatalysts) for the application of biochemical methods to synthetic chemistry. We are also developing new techniques related to these functions and chemically constructing well-defined functions of living organisms.
