Self-assembly of chiral dye molecules toward CPL active molecular systems

We are developing self-assembling supramolecular polymers of chiral dye molecules to achieve enhanced circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) on the basis of supramolecular chirality.

Chiral recognition on self-assembly

Angew. Chem. Ind. Ed., 2015, 54, 5943-5947.
Angew. Chem. Ind. Ed., 2017, 56, 15053-15057.

Chiral bichromophoric molecules with a twisted structure exhibit highly selective chiral recognition on self-assemlby and co-assembly.

CPL photoswitch

Chem. Commun., 2016, 52, 5171-5174.
J. Phys. Chem. Lett., 2018, 9, 2151-2157.

Photoresponsive tetra-thiazole with one-handed helical conformation was employed to tether emissive moieties. Photochromic reaction successfully modulated chiral arrangement and interactions between the emissive moieties to control the CPL activity.
